A glorious spring day.

Watercolor on heavyweight paper. I think I used a mix of Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith watercolors here. I’ve always loved watercolors! They’re so luminous and diaphanous, kind of dreamy. John Singer Sargent is one of my favorite watercolorists, and I always marvel at the way he captures light.

This is part of my watercolor sketchbook, and the line you see above is where the book folds. The actual sketch is quite long, about double the length you see here…I need to learn how to make good scans of the entire image!

Trekking uphill.

Another page from my watercolor sketchbook. I love this hill in our neighborhood because the plants are so abundant and beautiful! It’s often used as the backdrop of a lot of shows & films, so film crew & Star Waggons are frequently parked here. That’s L.A. life!

Sherwin loves to bathe!

This image was made with acrylic gouache, a medium that I really appreciate for its vibrant colors and opaque nature. The medium inspires me to make playful artwork!

This image was made with Derwent Inktense, a medium that’s relatively new to me and that I really enjoy using. Once it dries, you can paint or draw over it with ease.
